Three nonprofits will be recognized at the 100 Women Who Give event, and one of the following will receive a $10,000 donation to further their important work.

Hardy Girls is a Maine-based, research-driven nonprofit. Established in 2000, it partners with girls and nonbinary youth to ignite curiosity, promote thinking critically, build coalitions, and challenge the status quo. Hardy Girls believes in changing the culture, not fixing the young person and works with 1,200+ girls and nonbinary youth annually through year-round, statewide programs.

Hardy Girls offers numerous programs. Its Feminist Action Board (FAB) is a group of Maine high school girls and nonbinary youth passionate about gender equity and social justice. Muses are volunteer college students that facilitate Coalition Groups with girls and nonbinary youth to create a coalition of allies—discussing media literacy, gender stereotypes, and how to proactively change the culture through social action projects. Camp Brilliance is a one-week daytime summer camp where girls and nonbinary youth explore creativity, leadership, and social change through arts, activism, and fun.

Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area (HVWA) is a nonprofit founded in 1980 that serves 27 communities in Central Maine. It exists to provide non-medical support to individuals and their families during the last phases of life, to loved ones throughout the grieving process, and to educate the community regarding issues related to death and grieving. As part of its bereavement support services, HWA offers grief support groups and workshops throughout the year for both adults and children led by trained facilitators. HVWA is volunteer based and community funded.

In addition to hospice care, HWA programs include Hope’s Place, which offers a safe and supportive environment to grieving children, teens, and families through peer support groups, and Camp Ray of Hope, which offers individuals and families a place to come together to learn new ways to cope with loss, meet others with similar circumstances, remember special times, make new friends, and have fun. HWA’s bereavement services are available to anyone who has sustained loss through illness or unexpectedly.

The Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center’s mission is to lessen the trauma-related suffering of sexual assault and promote healing by guiding those affected by sexual violence toward survival through support, advocacy, education, and community collaboration.

The Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center offers numerous programs and support groups, including a free and confidential helpline (1-800-871-7741) you can call anytime to reach a trained advocate. Its Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) provides a safe, neutral, and child-centered place for coordinated evaluation of children following an allegation of sexual abuse. Its Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) advocates are trained to support survivors in many ways: helping find resources and file paperwork; going to medical appointments, court, and to the police; connecting people with legal and community help; helping with assault and harassment issues at work and school.
